About this program
What this program is
HAEA’s Human Rights Workshops are interactive sessions for students in Malaysia and Thailand, delivered in collaboration with local NGO partners, including Perak Women for Women (PWW) in Malaysia. Every presentation is translated into Malay and Thai so students can follow along in their own language.
Workshops introduce students to figures who shaped the global fight for equality, freedom, and justice: Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai, Rosa Parks, and Nelson Mandela. One session centers on a group reading of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech after students watch the original.
Beyond the presentations, students practise public speaking, building the confidence to articulate their own ideas about fairness and justice in their communities. Each session is built for active participation, so students engage directly with the historical significance of these movements rather than sitting through a lecture.

How it works
Interactive presentations
Hands-on, discussion-based sessions bring human rights history to life, including a group reading of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Workshops with local NGOs
Delivered in partnership with local NGOs in Malaysia and Thailand, including Perak Women for Women (PWW), with all materials translated into Malay and Thai.
Public speaking practice
Students in Malaysia and Thailand take part in guided public speaking exercises, building the confidence to voice their own ideas about fairness and justice in their communities.
