What progress looks like

Cherry
Cherry is a student from Myanmar preparing for her GED while living at Wonderland Jungle Hostel’s student dormitory in Koh Tao. She has passed her GED Ready assessments and completed a sponsored physical science course; she’s aiming for law school in New Zealand next.

Tira
Tira, from Malaysia’s Semai indigenous community, completed an ESL course and went on to teacher training with SUKA Society through HAEA sponsorship. She now works with HAEA as Education Coordinator, a former student now helping run the programs she came through.

Vanisa
Vanisa is an Orang Asli student from Perak, Malaysia, who progressed from no formal schooling to a B2 English certificate from Mee Fah Language School in Koh Tao. She’s now raising support to continue from B2 to C1 and prepare for her GED.

Nazira
Nazira is a student from an indigenous community in Perak, Malaysia, working toward a career in medicine. HAEA is raising funds for a one-month intensive ESL program at Mee Fah Language School to support that goal.
Kirosha
Kirosha, a Malaysian student first reached through the Happy Readers literacy program with Perak Women for Women, completed two HAEA-sponsored medical courses, Medical English and an introduction to anatomy and first aid, toward her goal of becoming a doctor.
