Cherry has earned her GED. On 14 September 2026 she was awarded her High School Equivalency Credential, the internationally recognised qualification that opens the door to university.
She passed all four GED subjects: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
Four years of work
Cherry is a student from Myanmar who lives in the student dorm at Wonderland Jungle Hostel on Koh Tao. Formal school was not open to her, so she built her own path. For four years she studied English, Science, Math and Social Studies with Horizon Asia, passed her GED Ready assessments in all four subjects, and then sat the official exams in Bangkok. Alongside her own studies, she volunteers as a teacher for younger children in her community.

What you funded
Donors funded Cherry’s THB 60,000 goal in full. Her family contributed THB 36,000. Your gifts paid for:
- the Intensive GED Preparation Program at House of Griffin, Bangkok’s GED Cert Centre
- study materials for all four subjects
- her official GED exam fees

What comes next
Cherry is now applying to university in Bangkok. Until she starts, she stays in the student dorm at Wonderland Jungle Hostel, where every direct booking helps fund the dorm and our classes.
