Digital Education
Free, volunteer-led Zoom classes bring English, science, and literacy to students across rural Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand — no classroom required.
Digital Education is 100% volunteer-driven — free, Zoom-based classes that reach students in rural Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand without requiring anyone to travel to a classroom. Where electrical infrastructure is inconsistent, HAEA supplies tablets, phones, and solar charging equipment, and sponsors monthly internet subscriptions, so an unreliable power line or a weak connection doesn’t end a student’s term.
The program runs three components: Zoom ESL Classes offer free English lessons for students of all ages, building the language skills that open doors to future opportunities; Zoom Science Classes bring interactive biology, physics, and astronomy instruction online; and Happy Readers, a literacy and human rights awareness program, is delivered in partnership with Perak Women for Women (PWW).
Used devices keep the program running. Donated laptops, tablets, and phones can be shipped directly to student villages, dropped at the Perak Women for Women office in Ipoh, or left with the team at Wonderland Jungle Hostel in Koh Tao — the same partner hostel that funds HAEA’s in-person programs through direct bookings.
