Empowering Semai Youth: Vanisa and Wak Jenny`s Scuba Adventure

Jun 25, 2024 | News

The Horizon Asia Education Association (HAEA), a volunteer-driven initiative committed to empowering underserved communities through education, is excited to share the success of our students, Vanisa and Wak Jenny. They recently participated in the Bubble Maker course, designed for young divers, giving them a wonderful introduction to the world of scuba diving.

Under the expert guidance of experienced instructors at Mojo Divers in Thailand, they learned how to use diving equipment, breathe underwater, and appreciate the beauty of the underwater world. This hands-on experience not only enhanced their adventure but also equipped them with valuable skills and knowledge.

A Monumental First Abroad Trip for Vanisa and Wak Jenny

The trip, which marked their first time traveling abroad from Malaysia, was a monumental experience for both students. In addition to their ESL studies, this unique opportunity allowed them to explore new interests and gain confidence in their abilities. The scuba diving lessons were a standout feature of their journey, promoting physical fitness, environmental awareness, and self-confidence.

Comprehensive Preparation for International Travel

HAEA ensured that Vanisa and Wak Jenny were well-prepared for this adventure by organizing an intensive one-month training program prior to their trip. This program included daily classes covering various aspects of international travel, such as:

  • Navigating airports
  • Understanding flight schedules
  • Handling travel-related documentation

The goal was to ensure they felt comfortable and confident throughout their journey.

The Impact of Scuba Diving Lessons on Personal Development

The scuba diving lessons provided by Mojo Divers were an integral part of their curriculum. Learning to dive in a pool setting offered a controlled and safe environment for the girls to develop their skills. They practiced setting up their equipment, understanding safety protocols, and mastering basic diving techniques.

This experience was not just about learning to scuba dive; it was about building resilience, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. Vanisa and Wak Jenny returned home with newfound self-assurance and a deeper appreciation for marine life. Their achievement underscores the importance of providing diverse educational opportunities and the positive impact of experiential learning.

Celebrating the Achievements of Vanisa and Wak Jenny

HAEA is immensely proud of Vanisa and Wak Jenny’s determination and progress. Their recent achievements represent significant milestones, both for them and for the Orang Asli community in Malaysia. It highlights the impact of providing educational opportunities and the transformative power of support and preparation.

We look forward to seeing Vanisa and Wak Jenny continue to thrive and are committed to supporting them throughout their educational journey. Their success is a testament to the importance of comprehensive preparation and the potential of every young learner.
