Photography Workshop for Talented Orang Asli Student Tira

Oct 2, 2021 | News

At the Horizon Asia Education Association (HAEA), a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to empowering underserved communities through education, we are committed to nurturing the unique talents of every student. One of our most inspiring success stories comes from Tira, a gifted Orang Asli student from Pos Woh village in Malaysia. Since October 2021, Tira has been astonishing everyone with her incredible photography skills.

Discovering a Passion for Photography

It all began when our Education Centre received a donation of a professional camera. Tira, brimming with curiosity and enthusiasm, quickly learned how to use the camera through YouTube tutorials. Her photos of the kampung and its surroundings are nothing short of breathtaking, capturing the beauty of nature with a keen eye for detail and composition.

Mentorship and Skill Development

Recognizing Tira’s potential, HAEA arranged for a photography workshop to help her hone her skills. In November 2021, we welcomed Sarah, a talented photography student from Austria, to our volunteer team. Sarah’s passion and expertise in photography made her the perfect mentor for Tira.

Equipped with her new professional camera and a laptop with advanced graphic editing software, Tira has been attending regular workshops with Sarah. These sessions focus on mastering advanced photography techniques, from understanding lighting and composition to post-processing and graphic editing.

Tira’s Remarkable Progress

Tira’s progress has been remarkable. Her photos continue to impress and inspire everyone at the Education Centre. The workshop has not only enhanced her technical skills but also boosted her confidence and ambition. With Sarah’s mentorship, Tira is well on her way to taking her photography to the next level, with the potential to pursue a professional career in the field.

Empowering Individual Talents

This initiative is a testament to HAEA’s commitment to fostering individual talents and dreams. By providing the tools, guidance, and opportunities, we are helping students like Tira realize their full potential and achieve their aspirations.
