Cherrz GED 2

From Refugee to Graduate: Fund Cherry’s GED Course & Exams

Cherry Koe is a refugee student from Myanmar living in Thailand. She has not had access to formal schooling since her family fled the war in Myanmar.

Over the past two years, she has made extraordinary progress in the Horizon Asia program and is now ready to take the final step: completing her GED.

  • • Subjects studied: English, Science, Math, and Social Studies
  • • Progress: Passed her GED Ready exams and is prepared for the official GED tests
  • • Community impact: Volunteers as a teacher, helping younger children in her community
  • • Dream: To study Law in New Zealand after completing her GED

Her parents have been saving for years and have contributed 36,000 THB toward her education.

To fully fund her journey, we are raising the remaining
60,000 THB ($1,900 USD) to cover her GED preparation course at House of Griffin
(Bangkok GED Cert Centre), all learning materials, and her official GED exam fees.

Every donation goes directly and entirely to Cherry’s education.
Your support helps her take the final step from refugee student to graduate — and toward a future filled
with dignity, opportunity, and hope.

Meet Cherry Koe

Cherry is a bright, determined young student from Myanmar who has faced more hardship than most adults. Forced to flee Myanmar, she now lives in Thailand as a refugee — where she’s unable to attend formal school.

Despite all this, her commitment to learning has never wavered.

Through Horizon Asia, Cherry now has a laptop and lives in our student dorm at Wonderland Jungle Hostel — a safe, supportive environment for underprivileged students. This stability allows her to focus fully on her education.

Cherry’s Story

Cherry and her family escaped conflict in Myanmar and found safety in Thailand. But without legal access to school, Cherry’s education was abruptly interrupted.

Thanks to sponsorship, she studies online, works consistently, and shows exceptional discipline. Living in the Wonderland student dorm gives her a stable environment where she can learn without fear and be surrounded by peers who also prioritize education.

Cherry is ready for the next step — earning her GED and opening the door to higher education and future vocational opportunities.

Quote from Cherry

“I want to finish my GED so I can build a better future. Even if I cannot attend school, I won’t stop learning.”
